Chase Knolls In The Beginning

ChaseKnolls Apartment Community, a city historic/cultural monument in the San Fernando Valley, rests on nearly 15 acres of beautifully manicured land. Chase Knolls was originally a dairy farm in the 1920s. In the late 1940s, WWII veterans were returning from the war and wanted housing in the growing Sherman Oaks neighborhood. The Chase family answered the call, adding 260 bungalows and apartment homes the the farmland. Chase Knolls was was developed by General Moses Hazeltine Sherman (1853-1932).

Chase Knolls Today...

During this time, steel was rationed for civilian use due to the war. In the post-war building boom, steel was considered very modern. The use of stainless steel countertops at this time was considered to be a luxury. Proudly remaining today in the kitchens of Chase Knolls are the original stainless steel countertops.

Another unique feature that still remains are the trademark views from many of the windows. Most apartments have an amazing view into trees or onto courtyards or upon the surrounding mountains full of palm trees. They simply do not make such picturesque apartment communities now. From the hardwood floors and crown molding to the park-like setting of each apartment home, Chase Knolls remains one of few communities in Los Angeles with timeless charm.
